Cox and Kings sets up Luxury tents Kumbh Mela


Cox and Kings (India) Ltd, the longest established travel company in the world in 1758, offers luxury and budget camp in association with Saarthi on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar during the Kumbh Mela 2010. The camps will be operative from March 10 to April 17, 2010. There are a total of five bathing dates during this period. The dates are March 15, 16th, 24th, 30th and April 14th.


There are three options for the camps which include individual and group packages. The individual packages are available for a single night stay at the camp. The Swiss tent for the individual package is priced at Rs.5,635 per night whereas the Amam tent is priced at Rs.6,785 per night. The group packages are for a minimum stay of three nights during the SNAN dates. The Swiss tent for the group package is priced at Rs.16, 905 on twin sharing basis whereas the Amam tent is priced at Rs.20,355 on twin sharing basis.


The package cost and the facilities at the camp include accommodation in tents with attached baths and toilets and running hot and cold water, kitchen preparing pure Indian vegetarian meals, tea lounge and reception, temple within the camps for religious aartis and discourses by saints and religious gurus, crafts bazaar, doctor on call, first aid facility, yoga and meditation centre, 24-hour security and fire security measures, special lectures on spiritualism on selected dates, communication facilities and assistance of Cox and Kings camp coordinators.


Haridwar lies at the foot of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas and is home to the most sacred Hindu rituals. The city is among the seven holiest places in the world and is a getaway to important places in Uttarakhand like Rishikesh, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.


The major attractions of Haridwar are Har-ki-Pauri, the 57 BC sacred ghat constructed by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother Bhartihari where the renowned Ganga Arti ceremony takes place; Maya Devi temple, the Adhisthari deity of Haridwar. It is believed that it was here that the heart and naval of goddess Sati had fallen; Daksha Mahadev mandir, Chandi Devi temple, Mansa Devi temple of goddess Mansa which has three mouths and five arms while another statue has eight arms and Kali Mata temple.


Vermilion, rudraksh, brass and copper worship utensils, idols of Gods and Goddesses, sandalwood, wooden walking sticks and many items of stoneware and containers containing Gangajal are some of the must buys in Haridwar.
